Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Air France presented a collective redundancy plan to cut 404 ground staff positions on a voluntary basis. The Orly Airport is particularly affected with 80 job losses, against a backdrop of falling passenger traffic from 12.4 million in 2019 to 7.1 million in 2024. Short-haul flights account for 226 of the job cuts, reflecting the decline in French domestic traffic, which fell from 31 million to 19.5 million passengers between 2019 and 2024.
This decline can be related to competition from the high-speed train, the widespread use of remote work/teleworking and carbon reduction policies. The plan must be approved by the Île-de-France Drieets by the end of October. Air France is continuing its strategy of refocusing on Charles de Gaulle airport (Paris-CDG) and profitable long-haul flights.
In 2025, Air France was previously mentioned in ERM events database, in their last recruitment campaign: 300 new hires Air France 2025 - FR. Nonetheless, it was the first business expansion recorded by Air France in the ERM database since 2019: Air France 2020 - FR, Air France 2020 - FR and Air France 2019 - FR.
