Description

Office Dépot France, the retail trade specialising in the sale of office furniture and supplies, has anounced 116 redundancies its stories across France. Six stores are set to close in the Île-de-France region, including two in Paris, and others located in Saint-Mandé, Argenteuil, Mondeville and Ballainvilliers. Additional closures are planned in Angers, Saint-Nazaire and Reims.

According to trade unions sources, this restructuring happens due to heavy indebtedness of the company, that struggles to restructure itself. The restructuring plan has been submitted to the Bobigny commercial court, which is expected to rule on the future of Office Depot on 16 April.

This is not the first major crisis for the company. In 2021, Office Dépôt France was placed under judicial liquidation before being taken over by the Alkor cooperative: Office Depot 2021 - FR. Despite this intervention, the company has continued to struggle, leading to the current restructuring process.

Office Depot employs around 270 permanent workers in France across 36 stores.
