Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Biedronka, a discount supermarket chain, has announced plans to hire 800 employees across Poland.
The new roles, mainly self-checkout assistants, are intended to support logistics and customer interaction for self-checkout points at the stores. Recruitment will start immediately and last until the end of 2024. The company emphasises that the positions are particularly well-suited for employees with disabilities.
Biedronka, owned by the Portuguese firm Jerónimo Martins, is Poland's largest supermarket chain, with 3,620 stores as of the end of June 2024.
