Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Nestlé Hungária, the Hungarian subsidiary of Swiss conglomerate Nestlé, has announced an expansion of its pet food production in Bük, Western Hungary. The investment will create 250 new jobs in addition to the current 1,400.
A new plant and an automated storage facility will be built at the production site, resulting in a 30% growth in its production capacity. The investment cost is about €350 million. The construction of the new facilities is set to be completed by the end of 2023.
The Bük site is the Central Eastern European centre of Nestlé's pet food production. It exports its products to more than 50 countries. 90% of the output is exported, and with this expansion, the rate will rise to 95%. The site underwent several rounds of development in recent years, with the last expansion taking place in 2022.
