Description
Hungary-based low-cost airline Wizz Air has announced that it will hire 800 flight attendants worldwide by the end of 2021, launching its largest recruitment campaign up to date. During August and September 2021, Wizz Air is to hold recruitment actions in several countries in Europe, including Hungary. The workforce expansion is connected to the short-term need to address labor shortages resulting from recent job cuts related to COVID-19, but also to an ambitious expansion strategy that entails the tripling of the fleet of the company to 500 Airbus planes over the next ten years.
Among others, in August 2021, the company announced a plan to recruit 4,600 pilots worldwide by 2030; to this summer, the company has trained 150 pilots since January 2021, with another 300 hires set to take place by the end of the year. Additionally, Wizz Air is recruiting cabin crew members across its bases.
Headquartered in Hungary, Wizz Air operates flights from 49 countries, flying to 191 destinations and 800 routes.
Previous restructuring programme (cuts affecting 1,000 jobs worldwide) was announced in April 2020.
