Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Polish convenience store chain Dino Polska announced that it will create more jobs at its new distribution centre in Sieronowice, Poland. The company initially declared the creation of 300 jobs in October 2020. Currently, the company plans to create in total 680 positions (about 500 at the warehouse, and another 180 in transport activities) what implies that additional 380 employees will be hired at the site. The total warehouse area will cover 45,000 square metres, and there will be parking spaces, temperature-controlled warehouses and freezers under most recent sustainability standards on the site. The investment is associated with the company’s plans to expand its activity across the country.
Dino was founded in 1999 and its stores are generally located in medium and small-sized towns. Currently, the chain has about 1,400 stores and five distribution centres across the country; the company employs about 21,000 staff.
Previous restructuring programmes were announced in October 2018 (350 jobs created) and June 2020 (600 jobs created).
