Description
UK-based Mobile retail company Carphone Warehouse is to close all of its stores in Ireland, including 12 stores-within-a-store and 69 standalone outlets. A total of 486 people will lose their jobs as a result of the closures. The decision is expected to take place in recent days. Staff have already been informed and the company's website has been shut down.
The closure follows the business’s decision to close all standalone Carphone Warehouse stores in the UK in 2020. The closre is partly driven by the decreased demand. According to the company's statement, they have seen footfall down 40% as customers are changing their beahviour of buying mobile devices and connectivity plan, such as replacing their handsets less often and buying them as part of more flexible bundles.
