Description

As announced on 5 November 2020, the US retail giant Amazon has created 200 jobs with the opening of its regional air freight centre at Leipzig-Halle airport. At this new centre, parcels will be sorted, and airplanes and trucks will be loaded and unloaded. Amazon intends to prepare two airplanes for departure daily at Leipzig-Halle, adding to its 70 other worldwide operating airplanes. Saxony's prime minister and the director of the airport welcomed the step.

Amazon has already 1,500 employees in the city of Leipzig and 16,000 nationwide.  For further Amazon restructuring cases, please see Amazon 2018 - DE, Amazon 2019 - DE and Amazon 2019 - DE.
