Description

Škoda Vagonka, a Czech passenger rail vehicles manufacturer, has announced a production expansion at its Ostrava site, creating 450 new jobs within the next two years. The company will invest CZK 1 billion (€38.79 million as at 7 March 2020) in a new paint plant, which is scheduled to be built in 2020, and in new tool machining centre and production lines among others.

The recruitment has already started, with some 100 new employees hired in the last two months. The long-term goal of the company is to double its workforce, which now accounts for 450 positions. In addition to blue-collar professions, the company will need technicians, designers and software engineers.

Å koda Vagonka focuses primarily on the Czech labour market, but employment agencies also offer workers from Poland and Slovakia. Retraining is also part of the recruitment campaign.

Å koda Vagonka, a subsidiary of Å koda Transportation, manufactures electric trains for suburban transport, motor trains or passenger trailers. The company is a direct successor to the 120-year-long tradition of manufacturing passenger rail vehicles.
