The Polish porcelain manufacturer Polskie Fabryki Porcelany Ćmielów and Chodzież announced that it will close its plant in Chodzież, cutting 126 out of the 148 jobs at the plant throughout a collective dismissal programme by the end of June 2020. According to the source, the organisation will move some production to its other two fabrics in Ćmielów and Åubiany. The decision aims to rationalise and improve the business performance of the company. Recently, the company has experienced economic difficulties associated with rising operating costs.
Polskie Fabryki Porcelany, with two subsidiaries in Ćmielów and Chodzież, is the largest porcelain manufacturer in Europe. The factory in Ćmielów has been operating since 1790, and the factory in Chodzież since 1852.
