Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The German online clothing retailer Zalando announced that it plans to create more jobs at its distribution centre in Głuchów near Łódź, Poland, than initially announced in August 2018. Currently, the company plans to create in total 2,500 positions, ie an additional 1,500 employees will be hired. The company has hired 1,200 employees so far. The company is partnered with logistics company DHL Supply Chain in the project. The distribution centre with an area of 130,000 m2 will supply articles to clients in Poland, Germany, Austria and the Czech Republic. Zalando employs over 380,000 people and operates in 220 countries worldwide. Since 2017, the company has had two distribution centres in Poland (Olsztynek and Gryfino).
