Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile Czech (TPCA), a joint venture between Toyota Motor Corporation and PSA Groupe (previously PSA Peugeot Citroen), has announced the recruitment of 1,000 new workers at its Kolin site. The recruitment campaign has already begun. The recruitment of new staff will focus primarily on Czech citizens. Approximately 400 of them could come from India temporarily. At present, 2,400 people work at the Kolin site.

This year, the company wants to invest over €180 million in new technologies aimed at expanding production capacity and to build three new halls, mainly in connection with the production of the new Toyota Yaris. TPCA did not specify the date when Yaris will start producing.

TPCA, which started production of cars in 2005, manufactures small cars mainly for the European market.

The average gross wage of an employee who is remunerated on a tariffs basis was CZK 42,200 (€1,658.82) last year.
