Description
Vehicle manufacturing company Opel Manufacturing Poland announced plans to reduce its workforce via a voluntary dismissal programme at its factory in Gliwice by 180 employees. Redundant workers will receive severance pay depending on their seniority. According to the source, the decision is related to a fall in the production of passenger cars. Some dismissed employees were relocated to German factories.
This is the fourth stage of a larger restructuring programme started by the company in the last year. However, the previous stages, which were launched in 2019, did not meet the targets. Until February 2020, over 800 employees have entered a redundancy programme. As a result of the restructuring programme at the plant, the night shift at the plant was cancelled.
