Description
The Amsterdam waste processing company AEB will dismiss 50 out of its 400 employees. Additionally, another 50 will be transfered to another company as a result of the sale of certain business units
The issues started for AEB last summer when suddenly, four of the six ovens were shutdown since the company could no longer guarantee the safety of the employees. A plan was set in motion to catch up on overdue maintenance and improve the negative work culture. AEB, as of now, is running all six ovens again, but the shutdown had large financial consequences. The municipality of Amsterdam (the sole owner of AEB), therefore is selling AEB and restructuring the company to ensure the sale will be successful.
Although there is a social plan, the trade union has urged the municipality of Amsterdam to improve it.
