Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Arvi kalakutai, a Lithuanian company engaged in turkey processing and production, intends to close its activities and to dismiss 156 employees in Marijampole. The company belongs to the Arvi group of enterprises uniting agricultural and food sector companies. Lately, the company has been experiencing financial difficulties; in November 2019, the company initiated restructuring proceedings. According to the management, despite the restructuring, Arvi kalakutai will not be able to continue its activities. The company used to process over 7,000 tons of turkey meat annually. Currently the company employs 156 employees.
