Description

The Polish sulfur mining company Grupa Azoty Siarkopol, located in Grzybów, announced its plans to shed up to 250 job positions. According to management, the redundancies will affect all units of the company. The restructuring is due to difficulties in global sulfur market and falling profits. Siarkopol will reduce the production of sulfur by between 20% and 60% to address the situation, the company revealed. The company has not announced any official redundancy plans, yet.

Currently, the union is organising protests.

Operating since 1966, the company is the only one active sulfur mining company in Poland employing 820 people. In 2013, the company became a part of Grupa Azoty, a state-owned chemical group.
