Description
Furniture manufacturing company IKEA Industry Poland announced plans to liquidate its assets from the sawmill in Chociwel. The closure is planned to be effective by mid-2020. As a result, 147 employees are expected to lose their jobs. The company revealed that the sawmill is not profitable and it will source wooden components from other units.
A subsidiary of Inter IKEA Group, the company is the biggest manufacturer of furniture in the world. It owns 43 factories in nine countries, with an overall workforce of around 20,000 employees. In Poland, the company employs nearly 10,000 people in the 20 production sites, spread over 10 locations.
