Description

Swedish equipment manufacturer Autoliv Isodelta, which manufactures steering wheels at the Chiré-en-Montreuil plant (Vienne), announced the loss of 110 jobs out of a total of 390. This redundancy plan is part of a global reorganisation announced by the Swedish automotive supplier, the world leader in airbags, which plans to reduce its workforce by 800 positions in 2019, among its 67,000 employees worldwide.

The 6% decrease in global vehicle production is believed to be the cause. When company announced the social plan, four years after the one that lead to 225 job cuts, employees have begun a spontaneous strike followed by 98% of the staff, according to a union source.

Previous restructuring (164 job cuts) were announced at the Gournay-en-Bray (Seine-Maritime) site in 2015 at the same plant. 140 jobs were lost in 2009 and 85 in 2008.
