European Restructuring Monitor (ERM)
The restructuring events database contains factsheets with data on large-scale restructuring events reported in the principal national media and company websites in each EU Member State. This database was created in 2002.
Three hospitals of the Treant Zorggroep company are closing down some of their departments and thus reducing the amount of jobs by 500. The hospitals are dealing with high labour costs because, for example, the emergency department must have a specialised care team day and night. At the same time permanent workers are scarce in the health sector thus many expensive self-employed and temporary employees are hired. The dismissed workers are expected to easily find new jobs at hospitals in the area.
