Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The engineering company SafeRail, specialising in control command and control and railway signalling, has announced a €10 million fundraising campaign that will enable it to recruit 40 engineers and technicians in 2019 and 50 next year. SafeRail plans to increase its workforce from 110 to 250 employees and its turnover from €10 to €50 million in 2021. In total, 140 positions will be created by 2023. Among the obstacles to be overcome is the difficulty in recruiting: management is counting on the company's 'beautiful brand image' and the appeal of its approved railway signalling training centre, founded in 2013.
