Description

German steel manufacturers Dillinger Hüttenwerke and Saarstahl, part of the Dillinger Group, announced 1,500 job cuts (including positions of temporary agency workers) in Saarland as well as the offshoring of another 1,000 positions. The companies intend to be 'socially responsible' and implement the reductions by the end of 2022. The restructuring is motivated by growing economic difficulties in the steel sector and new environmental policies, which require investment of resources in CO2 allowances and in new technologies.

Dillinger Hüttenwerke and Saarstahl have around 14,000 employees worldwide.
