Description

Multi-metal extraction and preparation company Terrafame announced its plans to hire between 120 and 150 employees in Sotkamo, where the site is currently under construction. Even though the trial phase of the new site is not expected to start before the end of 2020 and the production process is expected to begin in 2021, the company plans to start the recruitment process already in autumn 2019. Indeed, it is seen as essential to involve new employees in process training, equipment installation, testing and deployment. The job positions include roles as process and chemical professionals, financial management and environmental experts.

The new site allows the company to process nickel-cobalt sulphide into nickel-cobalt sulphates, which can be used as raw material for electric batteries. Once operational, the site will be one of the biggest manufacturers of battery chemicals in the world.

Terrafame has around 650 employees in 2018.
