Description

Battery manufacturing company Northvolt plans to hire additional 500 employees over the next 12 months. The company states that 150 new employees are expected to work at the pilot plant in Västerås and the remaining 350 are planned to be evenly distributed in Stockholm and Skellefteå. The company experienced strong growth in its workforce, from 15 employees in spring 2017 to the present 300 employees. Management expressed the company's need to have a total workforce between 2,500 and 3,000 people, when the production is Skellefteå is in full swing in 2021. Recruiting for these positions includes machine operators and machine handlers, as well as maintenance engineers and environmental experts. Currently, the company employs people from over 50 different nationalities.

Northvolt plans to recruit approximately 3.000 employees in Skellefteå, northern Sweden by 2025. At the beginning of 2020, Northvolt had 600 employees. The recruitment process continues and the company estimates that the number of employees will be approximately 1.000 by the end of 2020. The communication director of Northvolt argues that the company currently recruits approximately 10-15 people per week.
