Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Aubert & Duval has announced the recruitment of 100 employees for its Les Ancizes site (Puy-de-Dôme). The company designs, produces and markets metallurgical products and semi-finished products for the nuclear, marine, defence, oil and tooling markets. Aubert & Duval wants to recruit 70 production operators and 30 technicians. The site produces high-performance alliances for aeronautics and energy. Major investments have been made in recent years to modernise equipment and develop new skills. Management points out that the company is struggling to fill these positions. The reasons given are: poor image of the industry's professions, a geographical location considered 'remote' from the site at Les Ancizes, and a mismatch between the company's real needs and the training provided by the national education system.
Two previous restructuring cases took place at this company: 74 job cuts in 2013 at Firminy (Loire) and 208 job cuts (and 187 job creations) in 2003.
