Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Slovak paper manufacturer Harmanec-Kuvert (Eco-Investment holding) is launching a new production line in its factory in Brezno, Slovakia. The new line is set to make around 350 million environment-friendly paper bags worth between €40 and €50 million. The site currently produces 1.7 billion paper envelopes and the company envisages maintaining this production as well. According to the owner of the holding, the investment amounts to €20 million in 2019 and 2020 and will create between 100 and 130 new jobs by the end of 2020. Currently, the factory has 170 employees and the expansion would bring the total number of the workforce between 270 and 300.
