Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Defence Intelligence and Security Directorate (Direction du renseignement et de la Sécurité de la Défense / DRSD) has announced the recruitment of 300 people in 2019. This department, which employs 1,300 people, has opened its doors to the press to promote its activities and attract candidates. The DRSD recruits engineers and IT specialists in particular. This is a counter-intelligence service whose mission is to protect soldiers and their installations in France and on external operations. It also monitors the 4,000 companies in the defence sector, which are increasingly targeted by intrusion or takeover attempts. Accelerating the intelligence cycle, via artificial intelligence, is a priority for the DRSD, which also hopes to be able to automate the processing of the 400,000 authorisations (top secret defence, secret defence, confidential defence) for which it is responsible.
