Description
The pharmaceutical and chemical company Johnson&Johnson announced the start of the procedure for the collective dismissal of 70 workers of its plant in Santa Palomba, Pomezia (Roma).
Both blue-collar and white-collar workers will be affected by the decision. The company justified the decision as part of the change in its commercial strategies which will shift the emphasis from basic health products (which the plant in Santa Palomba is specialised on) to beauty and cosmetic ones.
The trade unions defined the decision as unacceptable and have started protest actions, among which the block of overtime and two hours strike per shift.
Johnson&Johnson Santa Palomba plant currently employs 540 workers, 450 of which with open-ended contracts and another 100 temporary and agency workers.
