Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Construction and design company Shaylor Group has appointed administrators and ceased trading with immediate effect. The company's 200 staff have been made redundant. The business, which is based in Walsall in the West Midlands, had experienced cash flow problems in recent times, which ultimately led to the decision to appoint administrators. A spokesperson for the administrators said that their twin priorites would be supporting affected employees getting access to redundancy payments and to ensure that work is tranferred to new contractors.
