It recently launched a review of its bread making operations following the loss of a contract with a major supermarket to supply own brand products. Bread production will continue at larger UK sites and the Cardiff premises will be used as a distribution centre for Wales and the South West of England.
A spokesperson for BFAWU trade union expressed disappointment at the decision and noted the likely knock-on effects in the local economy. The timetable for the redundancies has yet to be confirmed.
