Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Finnish manufacturer of electrical solutions, systems and supplies Ensto has concluded employer-employee negotiations. As a result, a total of 65 jobs will be cut. The personnel reductions affect all units in Finland and will be carried out by mid-December 2019. Ensto has decided to close its lighting factory in Lohja, Southern Finland, and transfer production to Porvoo, Finland, and Paide, Estonia. The company announced that they aim to save €10 million per year after completing the adjustments.
Currently, the company has about 400 employees in Finland. Globally, Ensto employs some 1,600 people.
