Description

The management of PSA Peugeot Citroën at Mulhouse announced to its social and economic committee that the production of the 2008 Peugeot model will stop by the end of the year. This should result in the loss of about 1,000 positions according to union sources. Management confirmed the information to Reuters without specifying the number of employees involved. The 2008 model phase out will result in cancellation of the night shift by mid-October, which employs 960 people, and in the change from two shifts to one and a half at the end of the year. The PSA Mulhouse plant employs 5,300 permanent employees and 1,300 temporary workers mainly on fixed term contracts of over 6 months. The reduction in the workforce will mainly result from non renewal of temporary contracts and should not lead to any redundancies.
