The Dutch national trade union, the FNV, has been in a problematic position for some years due to declining membership numbers. The de-unionisation trend, where many Dutch workers are not aligning themselves with a trade union, means the organisation had to shrink since 2007. The FNV currently has some 1,650 full time jobs, and this will have to be reduced to 1,360 full time positions by the end of 2020. This year, the FNV will reduce the number of jobs by 150 positions. The rest of the job dismissals will take place in 2020.

Updated, 29/05/19:After protests from the FNV members, FNV has decided not to reduce the number of jobs as of now. According to the FNV, some other measures will need to be taken to cut back on costs or to increase earnings, but proposals have not been announced yet.
