Description

Swedish leading telephone company and mobile network operator Telia Lietuva is to dismiss around 285 employees in Vilnius by the end of 2019. Currently the company is undergoing internal restructuring procedures aimed at increasing the efficiency of operations and creating a leaner structure of the company. According to the management, during the year 2019, the number of Telia Lietuva employees will be reduced by 285. While implementing the structural changes, part of the dismissed employees will first be offered internal career opportunities in its Global Services Centre. All leaving staff will receive the benefits according to the national law and an extra severance depending on previous performance appraisal. The outplacement programme and additional support measures will also be offered to help the dismissed employees to re-integrate into the labour market.

Earlier, in March 2019, Telia announced that it will increase the number of employees in its Global Services Centre from 295 to 500 in 2019 (see previous case Telia Global Services Lithuania 2019 LT).

On 1st February 2017, Teo, Omnitel and Baltic Data Center merged into one legal entity under the name Telia Lietuva. Currently Telia Lietuva employs 1,923 employees. Telia Lietuva is part of an international Telia Company Group operating in Nordic and Baltic countries.
