All Hallows Healthcare Trust has announced plans to close its two sites in East Anglia with the loss of all 280 jobs. The private healthcare business operates out of sites in Lowestoft, Suffolk and Ditchingham, Norfolk and has been in existence for nearly 150 years. A spokesperson for the business confirmed that it would close but stressed that the ongoing care needs of its patients would remain paramount. The business comprises a hospital, nursing home and at home care services. The statutory 45-day consultation period is due to begin soon, which will determine the timetable for the closure.
