Description

The social cooperative Medihospes Onlus announced to the trade unions the start of the collective redundancy procedure for 351 workers employed in activities connected with reception and hospitality services for migrants and asylum seekers.

Redundancies will take place in over 12 regions and will affect different professional figures, such as psychologists, social workers, cultural mediators, doctors and nurses.

The decision of the company is connected with the so called Salvini Decree, which entails the downsizing of the support system for asylum seekers, and the closure of the centres for the reception of asylum seekers (Centri di accoglienza per richiedenti asilo, CARA).

Trade unions asked an urgent meeting to the Minister of Labour, in order to identify immediate solutions for the personnel affected and, more generally, for the overall employment impact of the Security decree on the sector.
