Description

The company Moove Cars, which provides rental car services with driver (VTC) through the ride hailing application Uber, announced the collective dismissal of 730 employees in Catalonia, Spain. The firm argued that the approval of the decree of the Catalan Government limiting the activity of VTC companies led them to cease their activity in Barcelona. A spokesperson for Moove Cars has confirmed that the redundant employees will receive job offers for other areas in Spain.

The General Secretary of Labour of the Catalan Government has indicated that, because of the new regulation and according to what was announced by VTC operators, there will be about 2,000 dismissals as a result of the withdrawal of brands such as Uber and Cabify from Barcelona.
