Description

Calsonic Kansei, a car parts manufacturer based in Llanelli, has announced plans to create 85 new jobs. The business, which will focus on producing parts for electric vehicle technology, has secured a 4.4 million GBP (€4.8 million) grant from the Welsh Government in order to support the job creation. As of January 2019, the factory employs around 300 people and the new jobs are expected to be added over a five year period.

The announcement confirms that the business will move away from its current priority of manufacturing air conditioning systems for its major clients and instead will concentrate on new battery cooling technology. Making the announcement of the grant, the Welsh Economy Secretary commented that the change in focus will mean that the business model is more sustainable and that this investment offers the possibility for Calsonic Kansei to become a global leader in new technology.
