Description

The financial data and press agency Thomson Reuters has announced 3,200 job cuts and office closures worldwide over the next 2 years as part of an internal reorganisation. The job cuts represent about 12% of the total workforce. The number of its offices would be reduced by 30% to 133 locations. The company didn't give details about the countries affected but highlighted that the 'majority of employees had already been notified'.

Thomson Reuters is one of the world's largest press agency, ahead of The Associated Press and Agence France-Presse. In November 2018, Thomson Reuters reorganized its European news bureaus, dismissing journalists in France, Germany, and Italy. Two former worldwide job cuts took place in 2002 (2,000 job cuts) and in 2004 (100 job cuts and 90 job creations).
