Description
Life sciences company Genomics Medicine Ireland (GMI) is to create 600 jobs in Dublin over the next five years. The jobs are in research, informatics, data science, software and medicine.
GMI, founded in 2015, is working on a major scientific platform to examine the human genome in order to understand the role of genetics in disease and rare conditions, leading to new prevention strategies and treatments.
Just under €200 million is being committed to GMI in the short term, but this can grow to €350 million in the medium term, if targets are met. A number of investors, including the state-backed Irish Strategic Investment Fund, will be funding GMI's work.
