Description

On November 18, 2018, the paper mill company Burgo started procedures for the collective dismissal of 100 employees (92 blue-collar and 8 white-collar workers) working in the company's Duino plant, in the province of Trieste (Friuli Venezia Giulia), which counts 319 workers in total.

The collective dismissals are connected to the expiration of the solidarity contract currently applied at the plant, a shock absorber instrument negotiated with the trade unions which allowed to guarantee employment levels by reducing working time of the whole workforce.

Negotiations are undergoing between the company, trade unions and public institutions (in particular the regional administration) in order to reduce the social consequences of the decision.

Further 62 workers will be dismissed by the company in its seat of Verzuolo, in the province of Cuneo (Piedmont).
