Description
The Anglo-Dutch food manufacturing group Unilever announced the dismissal of 106 workers employed in its seat in Caivano (Neaples), where the group produces ice creames under the brand "Algida".
The internal restructuring plan also entails changing the employment contract of 101 workers from full-time to part-time, the disposal of two production lines and the outsourcing of the cold room department, which will be transfered to an external company.
Attempts from the trade unions to start negotiations concerning the planned dismissals were rejected by Unilever, which cancelled the meeting set for Friday, October 26, 2018. The trade union declared the block of overtime work and half an hour strike for every shift.
According to the latest information available, the group employs around 700 workers in Caivano. In 2015, a restructuring occurred with 151 jobs losses announced and 50 implemented at the end of negotiations.
