Description
Swedish and Danish state-owned postal service provider PostNord has opened its new center of logistics in Växjö, Sweden. The site will employ a total of 400 people, with 150 of these being new recruitments that have taken place during the summer and autumn of 2018. The other 250 will be transferred in from other sites of PostNords, mainly their old facility in Växjö.
Building of the new facility was announced in April 2017 and started in August the same year. The facility features a machine capable of sorting up to 10,500 packages per hour and works as a central hub for mailmen and delivery truck drivers. The terminal will handle packages going in and out of South Halland, Northern Skåne, Southern Småland and Öland.
The investment in new infrastructure is needed due to PostNords expansion in logistics and transportation. According to a company spokesperson, the Växjö terminal is an important piece in a larger puzzle that will enable PostNord to effectively handle customer needs now and in the future.
