Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Ministry of Labour has announced to cut 550 positions within l'Agencenationale pour la formation professionnelle des adultes (AFPA), a public body providing vocational training and education to adults. AFPA currently employs 7,300 people and has already cut 396 positions in 2018. The Ministry of Labour estimates that the job cuts are justified by the decrease of the number of the unemployed. It also has to cope with a reduction of its budget, from €15,2 billion in 2018 to €13,1 billion in 2019, decided by the goverment.
