Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
The Hungarian subsidiary of US-based car manufacturer Ford Motors opened its new Business Service Centre in Budapest in mid-September. The opening of the new centre is part of the ongoing restructuring of the European operation of Ford Motors that involves a gradual broadening of business service operations at the Budapest knowledge centre in various fields, including marketing, pricing, product management, production management. Also, the human resources function will be concentrated into as few as three regional centres, and Budapest will be the centre covering Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
While the launch of the new Service Centre itself had only limited immediate effect on the number of employees, the firm plans to increase the workforce, along with the ongoing expansion of activities, by 60-80 by the end of 2018 and another 100 by the end of 2019.
