Description

In response to falling student numbers, the University of Bradford has announced that it is to cut 165 posts, which equates to approximately ten per cent of all staff. The positions which will be cut are those in administrative, professional and support roles, with the cuts expected to be completed by December 2018. No academic positions will be affected. It is also understood that a further 35 roles will be cut, though these cuts have already been agreed. Local politicians of different political persuasions have expressed disappointment at the news. A local Conservative MP suggested that the university should look to its own actions for the decline in student numbers, whereas a Labour MP suggested that the Government's cuts are at the root of the falloff in student numbers.
