Description
The Germany-based tobacco manufacturer Reemtsma announced it will 159 jobs in Langenhagen within the next two years. According to Reemtsma, cuts are inevitable, as the new EU-regulation ‘Track and Trace’, will significantly increase the workload and costs to produce for non-EU-markets. Management and works council have started negotiations regarding a social plan. The Trade Union of Dood, Beverages, Tobacco, Hotel and Catering and Allied Workers (NGG) blames EU and German policy for the job reduction.
As of July 2018, Reemtsma has 880 employees in Langenhagen.
