As announced on 6 June 2018, the Dutch diary firm Friesland Campina will be closing its plant in Gütersloh in spring 2019, which will result in the loss of 220 jobs. The plant in Gütersloh has been posting losses of €11 million annually for several years. Consequences such as a massive job reduction were expected, but employees and works council had hoped to avert a closure. However, FrieslandCampina rejected all proposals.
Negotiations regarding a social plan have been started. Outcomes of the talks will be presented shortly.
