Description
The Spanish public post office company Correoshas formally opened a call to create 2,295 permanent jobs throughout Spain. The job positions to cover are mainly urban and rural deliverers, but also classification agents and customer service.
The CSIF (public servants trade union) considers this announcement as "positive although insufficient" arguing that it has been delayed for two years. Since the public call offer of Correos in 2016, the union was arguing for 6,000 new positions to re-staff and to recover from the destruction of employment implemented during 2009. CSIF demands are focused on the rejection of budget cuts already approved, the recovery of salaries, the development of a strategic plan for the viability of the company, new hirings and the bargaining of a new collective agreement.
