Ethics in the digital workplace
Digitisation and automation technologies, including artificial intelligence (AI), can affect working conditions in a variety of ways and their use in the workplace raises a host of new ethical concerns.
Swedish paperboard manufacturer Iggesund Paperboard, within the Holmen Group, has announced that 150 employees will be laid off at its Iggesund production facility. This is intended to reduce operational costs and the goal is to complete the staff reduction before the end of 2018. As additional changes planned, the CEO of Iggesund Paperboard comments that they aim at increasing production capacity by about 100,000 tonnes, and that the organisation will also be reviewed to ensure long-term profitability.
Iggesund Paperboard is in Hudiksvall, Gävleborgs län and currently has 800 employees.
