Description

Meat producer Tulip has announced plans to cut 170 jobs at its site in Bodmin, Cornwall. The decision follows a slowdown in order levels, meaning that current levels of production cannot be sustained. The company which produces the Danepak brand of bacon has confirmed that the collective consultation period is underway, and this is expected to be followed by individual level consultations with affected employees. Despite the announcement, a spokesperson has confirmed that Tulip is fully committed to maintaining its site in the South West. The timescale for the job losses has not been reported.

Two years ago, the company has cut 430 jobs at the same site, in Bodmin.

UPDATE 01/06/2018: Tulip has confirmed that the total number of job losses at its Bodmin site will be 150, not 170 as previously reported.
